Love + Giving FAQs

Which causes do you support?
I've volunteered and coordinated volunteer teams to support community, disadvantaged youth and research projects since I was 12 years old. I advocate for students, spoonies, literacy, and ME/CFS and family trauma research.

Do you offer student rates?
I offer student rates on most things (just ask). You can also ask if any pending sessions are available.

What's this "pending session" thing?
I accept "pending" donations. Have you heard of pending coffee? It's just like that. Buy one for me, and one anonymous donation for someone else (my friends and I always used to do that with bridge tolls - before etags). Whenever you feel guided to you can contribute a pending amount here, and you will enable someone in need to change their life.

How can I apply for a Spoonie Scholarship?
Applications are closed for 2015. Check back here in 2016, or jump on the scholarship waitlist.

Why is giving so important to you?
I've been a student. I've been a spoonie. I've been homeless with a child while chronically ill. And I've applied for and received many scholarships. In many ways, having access to scholarships and community has made a bigger difference in my life than any other single factor. And when I was at my lowest point, helping others - with writing an essay or mourning a loved one or getting through the holidays - sharing connected, meaningful moments and believing in someone or just being able to be there for them... it's just timelessly helpful. I've always wanted to make scholarships available to others. I've especially wanted to make it possible for spoonies to access resources that can help turn things around.
